Tour a Water Treatment Plant

TasWater offers a tour of our water treatment plant at Bryn Estyn just west of New Norfolk.  We have strict terms and conditions to ensure a safe and pleasant visit and you should read through these before you book a tour.  Please note that every participant is required to understand the terms and conditions and return the signed indemnification form to us prior to touring the plant.  Students under the age of 18 must receive their parents consent.

Directions:
Bryn Estyn (south)

Who can visit?

School groups (age limit of ten years), service clubs, special interest or industry groups are welcome to visit.  The minimum number of people we accept for a tour is five.

What will you see?

Water treatment plants have a lot of tanks, pipes and pumps and our experienced Education Officers will provide commentary about the process of turning raw water from our rivers, lakes, dams and bores into safe drinking water.  We will explain each of the stages of water treatment and you will be able to see for yourself that there is a whole lot that happens to water before it reaches your tap.

How do I book?

Please complete the booking form below and one of our Education team members will contact you directly to discuss your requirements.  Most importantly please note, just because you have booked the tour online, does not mean it is confirmed.

Which days do tours operate?

Tours are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Please note that water treatment plant is fully operational, so in the event of an incident tours may be cancelled at short notice.

Do I need to do anything else?

We have produced a video about being safe at our treatment plant - please take the time to show this to your students or community group once you have confirmed your tour.  We are proud of our Zero Harm goal at TasWater and you can help us maintain that.
