Berriedale Claremont Trunk Main Renewal

What's this project all about?

The southern section of the Claremont Trunk pipeline was constructed in 1962. It is the primary source of water into the Glenorchy water supply zone from the Bryn Estyn Water Treatment Plant, via the West Derwent Pipeline.

The ageing pipeline has sustained various failures in recent years, which investigations found were a result of steel corrosion. As a result, a 370m section of the pipeline along the Brooker Highway near Berriedale Road will be upgraded.

This renewal project will increase the reliability of the pipeline, reducing the risk of unplanned interruptions and thereby improving customer satisfaction.

Project timeline

Construction commenced in June 2021.

Final connection and commissioning is expected to occur in mid-2022.
