Improved water services for Huon Valley residents

A project that will bolster efficiency and operation of the Glen Huon Water Treatment Plant (WTP) has commenced.
TasWater Project Manager Peter Janisch said the works are an important investment for the local community.
“As part of the project, we will be automating some of the systems so we can improve the operation of the treatment plant. This includes installing additional instrumentation to provide more accurate monitoring and quality control of the water supply for our customers,” Mr Janisch said.
“Additionally, we are upgrading a number of the components within the water treatment plant to the latest technology. This will allow greater flexibility within the plant so our customers can have access to safe, clean and reliable drinking water more efficiently.”
Further automating sections of the treatment plant will provide benefits to TasWater’s operators, particularly in the safety space. It will also help ensure standards of drinking water quality are met and maintained.
Once the Glen Huon WTP upgrade project is complete, it will improve the efficiency and operation of the plant.
There are no planned interruptions to water services in the area as part of these works.
The works are expected to be completed by late July 2022, weather permitting.
