NAIDOC Week 2022

NAIDOC Week 2022

TasWater proudly acknowledges the Tasmanian Aboriginal people as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of lutruwita – Aboriginal land, sea, and waterways. We pay our deep respects to the Elders past and present and acknowledge today’s Tasmanian Aboriginal community.

We also proudly acknowledge that this week is NAIDOC Week (3-10 July 2022).

NAIDOC Week is celebrated each year and is a time when the National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) invite us all to celebrate the diversity, histories, cultures, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

This year the theme for NAIDOC Week is Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!

TasWater embraces that the theme encourages all of us to champion systematic cooperative change.

This NAIDOC week, we are making change by commencing our first Reconciliation Action Plan which will launch next year. We have recently become a member of The Reconciliation Collective to support this important Diversity and Inclusion project as we embrace the long history of lutruwita / Tasmania and the palawa people.
