Pump station upgrade at Zeehan

TasWater is currently upgrading several plants, reservoirs and pump stations on the state’s North-West and West Coasts, boosting water security and reliability of services to regional Tasmanians.
The Zeehan Raw Water Pump Station (RWPS) replacement project has recently commenced and will provide Zeehan customers with greater confidence in their water supply now and into the future.
TasWater Capital Delivery Office (CDO) Project Manager Daniel Ford said the upgrade would facilitate raw water being pumped through for treatment at a faster rate.
“The design of the new pump station has an upgraded pumping capacity in comparison to the current one,” he said.
“This will improve flow rates enabling water to pass more efficiently.”
“In addition, by upgrading the pump station it will also ensure that TasWater can accommodate any future growth in the region, if required.”
Fundamentally, the project was designed to replace the ageing infrastructure and safeguard the surety of the town’s water supply.
“This refurbishment will bring the pump station up to modern standards and will make it more user-friendly for our operators in the region,” Mr Ford said.
This project is on track for completion by May 2022 and forms part of TasWater’s 10 year $1.7 billion Capital Works Program.
