Do Not Consume Alert for Penguin Customers Lifted

TasWater and Department of Health are pleased to advise customers in Whitehills Road and South Road, Penguin, the Public Health Alert has been lifted and there are no longer any restrictions on the normal uses of the supplied drinking water.
The alert was issued on 27 November 2022, due to a treatment process issue.
Test results confirm the drinking water meets the standards of the Tasmanian Drinking Water Quality Guidelines (TDWQG) and the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines (ADWG).
We strongly recommend customers with additional water storage located on their property take necessary precautions, i.e. cleaning of tanks, before recommencing consumption. We also advise customers to flush their internal taps used for consumption for a period of 2 to 3 minutes to draw fresh clean water into your property.
TasWater will continue to undertake ongoing monitoring and testing to demonstrate water quality meets the drinking water guidelines and is safe to consume.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for their patience and understanding during this time.
