National Water Week Poster Competition returns

National Water Week Poster Competition returns

After a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, TasWater is again hosting its much-loved and popular poster competition to mark National Water Week.

Open to all Tasmanian primary schools and primary school-aged children, our National Water Week 2022 Poster Competition encourages children to create a poster based on this year’s national theme of “Our Water Stories”.

National Water Week is hosted by the Australian Water Association (AWA) each year in October and features a different annual theme. This year, it runs from October 17-23.

We encourage all Tasmanian primary schools and primary students to grab their pens, pencils, crayons and paints and share a special memory, event, or feeling about water and what it means personally to them.

Community and Stakeholder Engagement Officer Kate Beard said after two years away it was great to be able to run this poster competition again.

“It has always received a lot of buzz around the office when the posters start coming in,” Kate said.

“Our Water Stories is also a great theme.

“Water is not just a resource. It is something we all connect with. For example, I have a fond childhood memory of walking with my grandmother along the beach at Nubeena in the evening, just as the soldier crabs are coming back in.

“Without looking after our environment and taking care of what we use, we risk losing those stories.

“What is your water story? What will your poster be?” Kate asked.

TasWater National Water Week Poster Competition rules:

  • Posters must be A3
  • Open to all Tasmanian primary schools and primary school-aged children
  • Entries close 5pm Monday 12 September 2022
  • The theme is ‘Our Water Stories’
