Skills and personal growth – TasWater’s Graduate Program

Applications have now closed for the 2023 TasWater Graduate Program intake, with interviews commencing in early November and we are thrilled with the calibre of candidates that have applied to be part of the program.

We targeted graduates from Engineering, ICT, Environmental Science and Media and Communications disciplines with a nation-wide advertising campaign.

Successful graduates will commence with TasWater in late February 2023.

TasWater’s Manager Organisational Planning and Performance Yvette Gilbert said a two-year structured, competency-based program supports graduates in building their technical knowledge and skill in the workplace and putting their university learnings into practice.

“But it not just about skill and technical knowledge,” Yvette said.

“We as a business put just as much emphasis on the personal growth of our graduates.

“At TasWater, our aim is to provide a memorable experience for our graduates, from their first interaction with us, through the recruitment process, and continuing through their tenure with the organisation.

“Our advertising process for our Graduate Program is focused on the individual – what unique skills and experience can they bring to TasWater, their greatest university achievement and why they want to work with us. We want to know what makes our graduates unique and positioned to play a vital part in our business.

“We aim to build confident, self-aware and affiliative team members over the course of the graduate program, which focuses on building a personal brand and effective networking skills. To that end, we want them to focus on continually improving their own graduate program and heightening the experience for younger and future graduates,” Yvette said.

“Evidence of this involved the current group of Graduate Engineers and Trainee Project Managers undertaking a road trip across the state.

“This opportunity allowed them to visit several project sites and active treatment plants along the east coast and north-west coast of Tasmania, providing them with a broad overview of the varying operations and work that TasWater undertakes, outside of their current roles.

TasWater will announce the successful participants after the interview process has been completed.
