TasWater proud to be part of Pride in Water

TasWater has joined the Yarra Valley Water driven network Pride in Water to show support and inclusivity for all Tasmanians, in particular the LGBTIQA+ community.
The initiative ties into TasWater’s diversity and inclusion strategy, with the primary goal to create an organisation that is reflective of the diversity of our staff, customers and the Tasmanian community.
The strategy also recognises that to create an organisation that is truly inclusive, people need to feel valued, respected, safe and connected.
TasWater CEO Mike Brewster has made a pledge to Pride in Water as the organisation works on developing a more inclusive and diverse workforce for its people.
“TasWater is committed to creating a workplace that is safe and inclusive for everyone knowing they will be supported and celebrated,” Mr Brewster said.
“As Tasmania’s primary water and sewerage service provider, we see this as a great opportunity for our people to connect with a broader and more diverse network.
“We are proud to support the Pride in Water network, the LGBTIQA+ community, families and allies.”
Pride in Water was established in 2019 and was set up to encourage a collaborative approach across the water services industry.
The idea of Pride in Water was developed from the experience of two LGBTIQ+ employees at Yarra Valley Water, who are passionate about creating a collaborative initiative.
They founded the Pride in Water network to ensure the water industry is a place where every LGBTIQ+ person feels valued, safe and included.
