TasWater supports women to get back into the workforce

In recent months the TasWater Capital Delivery Office (CDO) has been collecting donations of women’s business attire at collection points in Devonport, Launceston and Hobart.

The donations were in support of Dress for Success, a not-for-profit organisation helping women return to the workforce.

TasWater CDO People Leader Kate Blizzard and Elisha O’Brien, CDO People & Culture Business, took great pleasure in delivering the donated clothing.

Kate said TasWater was rightly proud to support women who may be seeking to re-enter the workforce after a period of unemployment.

“The services offered by Dress for Success make a difference to women of all ages,” Ms Blizzard said.

“With the help of the CDO and the whole TasWater team, we have made our first contribution to this worthwhile cause, and it is only the start, it will get bigger.

“We appreciate not just the quantity, but also the quality of clothing and accessories that have been donated already, and we will keep collecting.

“TasWater’s role as an employer makes it an ideal supporter. Women make up more than 23 per cent of our talented employee base. That is almost twice the industry standard for female representation in construction and utilities workplaces,” Ms Blizzard said.

A worldwide service, the Dress for Success Tasmanian headquarters is in Hobart and is run by a small, dedicated team of staff and volunteers. The Dress for Success mission is to “Empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.”
