Zeehan Zeehan Raw Water Pump Station (RWPS) Replacement Project

What's this project all about?

The Zeehan Raw Water Pump Station (RWPS) is located on the southern side of a small raw water dam formed by a weir across Parting Creek, approximately 1 kilometre north/north-east of the Zeehan Post Office.
The northern end structural steel frame support to the concrete floor slab was in poor condition and it was recommended that essential maintenance works be completed.
The site is the sole source of raw water for the township of Zeehan.
The purpose of this upgrade was to remove hazards from the Water Treatment Plant site in above ground asbestos pipe, lead-painted shed and aging infrastructure. The finished project has increased the amount of raw water available for treatment and increased the capacity of the water treatment plant.

Major features of this upgrade include:

  • New Rising Main
  • New Static Mixer for poly mixing
  • Two new submersible pumps housed within wet well
  • Removal all redundant pipework and shed
  • Remove cantilevered concrete slab
  • Install wet well screen, gantry crane for lifting pumps and screen
